Tires are junk too in NC! We were called to a warehouse that had a fire in Goldsboro, NC. And guess what was in the warehouse? Right! Tires! You must have played this game before, haven’t you.

So, getting back to the job, there were 240 tires and 4,000 pounds of metal that needed to be removed from this partially destroyed warehouse. And we removed all of it in 1 day. Yup! That’s a lot of junk and we were happy to help this company out. With all of those tires being disposed of, we started wondering about all of the tires that are disposed of across the country. Tires are junk too.

Here’s What We Learned About Tires

In 2003, markets for scrap tires were consuming 233 million, or 80.4%, of the 290 million annually generated scrap tires:

  • 130 million (44.7%) are used as fuel
  • 56 million (19.4%) are recycled or used in civil engineering projects
  • 18 million (7.8%) are converted into ground rubber and recycled into products
  • 12 million (4.3%) are converted into ground rubber and used in rubber-modified asphalt
  • 9 million (3.1%) are exported
  • 6.5 million (2.0 %) are recycled into cut/stamped/punched products
  • 3 million (1.7%) are used in agricultural and miscellaneous uses

Tires are just one item that we can dispose of for you. We can also take things like mattresses, refrigerators, ovens or stoves, ice chests, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, old cabinets, mattresses, beds, dressers, couches, recliners, kitchen tables, dining room tables, chairs and so much more.

Finally, if you consider getting junk removal in Eastern North Carolina or Western North Carolina, it will help you reclaim your space when you call Junk Trunk. Most of the time junk will take up large portions of space because it cannot be neatly organized. If you get rid of that junk, you can clean up and make that space a livable area again. Plus, the professionals have commercial trucks and vans, which mean you won’t have to lug all that dirty excess debris around in your vehicle.

A Moving Checklist: Your Pre-Move Must Do’s https://ncjunk.com/a-moving-checklist-your-pre-move-must-dos/ https://ncjunk.com/a-moving-checklist-your-pre-move-must-dos/#respond Mon, 26 Aug 2019 08:10:41 +0000 https://ncjunk.com/?p=5216 If you have ever let your junk pile up in an unused corner or downstairs in the basement, you know how quickly it can accumulate.

The post A Moving Checklist: Your Pre-Move Must Do’s appeared first on Junk Trunk.

]]>
A moving checklist is essential to ensure that you have everything taken care of. There are so many little details that need to happen and when you’re prepared, it can change the entire experience.

The very thought of it can send chills down your spine and can cause you to break out into a cold sweat. Experts say that any kind of “change” creates “stress”. Moving, (and especially if we are relocating to a new city or state in North Carolina), represents a huge change and naturally brings a great amount of stress along with it. This can be a double whammy, because stress can lead to a lack of energy and motivation. Many of us tend to procrastinate during stressful periods of our lives. And many of us tend to procrastinate during stressful periods of our lives, so don’t feel bad about it, you’re not alone!

This is one time, though, when we must rise above that. When preparing for a move you need to put the pedal to the metal and get a lot of things done. This checklist contains many suggestions that may seem like “no-brainers”. However, the very act of printing out these simple suggestions and reminders can become a significant security blanket as the dreaded time approaches. Moving and relocating calls for being proactive, grabbing the bull by the horns and completing certain chores well in advance of their deadlines. Hopefully this little list will help you to accomplish that. In this blog, we are leaving out the “big things” such as finding the best moving company, researching your new neighborhood’s transportation, parking, employment, etc. Those are for other articles on another day. Today we are concentrating on the basics of planning and preparation.

Get All Important Papers and Documents Together and Secure Them

Since moving is hectic, to say the least, you should be aware of the exact location of all of your important items. Things that you absolutely must not lose or misplace should certainly be hand carried, not put in a box for the movers. Some of these items include:

  • Address Books
  • Birth Certificates
  • Bank Statements
  • Checks
  • Credit Cards and Statements
  • Home Movies
  • Irreplaceable Memorabilia
  • Insurance Policies
  • Marriage Records
  • Medical and Dental Records
  • Military Records
  • Passports
  • Photos and Photo Albums (If you even have these)
  • Resumes
  • School Records
  • Stock Certificates
  • Tax Returns
  • Valuables
  • Vehicle Documents
  • Wills

Prepare Well in Advance for Living at Your New Location

There are many things that you can do at your new location well in advance of your move that will help smooth out the bumps and grinds of your relocation process when the happens. You can:

  • Open up new bank accounts.
  • Open up a new Safe Deposit Box.
  • Contact the new area utility companies and arrange for your new services. These can include Cable TV, gas, electric, oil, telephone, water and Internet access.
  • Arrange for new medical providers.
  • If you are moving to a new state, contact the DMV and get forms necessary to re-register your vehicles. Here’s a list of DMV websites for all states.
  • Contact your insurance companies and find out if your car insurance, homeowner’s insurance, etc. can be transferred. If not, find an Insurance Broker in your new area and discuss your needs and requirements for new policies.
  • Go to the post office and get a moving kit. Prepare change of address forms for all of your correspondents; credit card companies, other credit accounts, banks, insurance companies, current utility companies for final statements, magazines and other subscriptions, family, friends, and any other persons or businesses that you correspond with on a regular basis.

As the Time Approaches, Get a Nice New Legal Pad

As moving day approaches and when the moving process actually begins, you don’t want to be hunting for phone numbers in wallets, purses, or address books. Have a nice new legal pad ready with all important phone numbers written clearly and legibly for both your old and new contacts: Banks, Doctors, Emergency contacts, Family members, Friends, Landlords or Real Estate Brokers, Movers, Pharmacies, Schools, Storage Facilities, Utilities. With proper planning and preparation:

  • the moving process, though never fun, can at least be sane.
  • the utilities at your present address can be disconnected the day after you move and the utilities at your new address can be connected the day prior to your arrival.
  • you will not be frantically searching for a new doctor or pharmacy, if that unfortunate need arises.
  • you will always have all of your important documents at the tip of your fingers.
  • your mail will start arriving the day after you move in to your new abode and your life will endure a minimum of chaos and clutter.

Get Rid of What You Don’t Need

Many of us are “pack rats”. One thing that you can accomplish immediately is going through all of our “stuff” and getting rid of what you don’t need anymore. Moving unwanted clothing and bric-a-bracs from one place of residence to another is a great waste of time and effort. It is surprising how much more in control you’ll feel once you start narrowing down your “inventory” to what you actually need to keep. Getting rid of the unwanted items can be done by having a garage sale long before moving time and then calling a local junk removal company like Junk Trunk. With trucks in North Carolina and South Carolina, Junk Trunk can help you make your move as simple as possible.

Good luck with your move and good luck in your new home or apartment.

If you have ever let your junk pile up in an unused corner or downstairs in the basement, you know how quickly it can accumulate. People don’t haul junk into their backyard and burn it off as we are much more aware of the toxic chemicals that are used in our furniture, plastics, and appliances. Both homeowners and business owners are now realizing how much more efficient and safer it is to have junk removal done by the professionals. If you live in Eastern NC or the surrounding areas, here are a few reasons why you should consider hiring a professional junk removal company:

It Is a Safer Option

If you have a lot of debris, you’re going to want to get a professional company to dispose of it. The reason being is the average individual does not have the training or equipment required to get rid of the items without risk of injury. When injured from heavy metals or items with high levels of toxins, the result can be some serious and even life threatening injuries.

You will also feel safe knowing hazardous material is handled properly. This goes for items such as household appliances and electronics that cannot be thrown into a landfill. If you have old televisions, laptops, or smartphones, these will contain heavy metals that can be toxic to both humans and the environment if broken down in the wrong manner. If you choose to go with a professional junk removal company, they will be able to dispose of them in the right way.

You Save Time

Sorting through all of the junk and figuring out where it goes is a time-consuming task. If a professional does it for you, it saves you a lot of time as they have the proper knowledge to get the job done quickly.

Finally, if you consider getting junk removal in Eastern North Carolina, it will help you reclaim your space when you call Junk Trunk. Most of the time junk will take up large portions of space because it cannot be neatly organized. If you get rid of that junk, you can clean up and make that space a livable area again. A picture is worth a thousand words and it couldn’t be more true in this case! We were called to a home in Eastern North Carolina because the family wanted to make some changes in the kitchen.

Sometimes there are little changes and sometimes there are BIG changes. This was one of the times there was a BIG change!

The family wanted to completely gut the kitchen and start the room all over. What that meant was there was a need to…

  • Remove and dispose of the clutter.
  • Remove and dispose of the cabinets.
  • Remove and dispose of all of the items in the cabinets.
  • Remove and dispose of the kitchen sink (yes, it wasn’t a joke).
  • Remove and dispose of the linoleum floor.
  • Remove and dispose of the refrigerator and everything in it.

Hoarding: How To Tell If Someone is a Hoarder https://ncjunk.com/how-to-tell-if-someone-is-a-hoarder/ https://ncjunk.com/how-to-tell-if-someone-is-a-hoarder/#respond Fri, 08 Sep 2017 06:51:27 +0000 http://themes.g5plus.net/moveco/?p=1929 Are you worried that you or someone you know might be a hoarder? Are you worried that you or someone you know might be a hoarder? It’s not a laughing matter and could pose a very serious and grave situation for them both emotionally and physically.

Chronic Disorganization

Being chronically disorganized impedes your ability to function. You can’t find your keys, your purse, your wallet, your cell phone, your computer, your clothes even! You’re chronically late getting out of the door because of looking for things. A lot of us might be chronically disorganized, but this goes farther. It gets in the way of your normal daily activities and interrupts the flow of life.

Unwillingness to Allow Anyone Into Your Home

This happens when the clutter has become so bad that you are too embarrassed to let anyone else see it. Most people suffering from hoarding feel tremendously isolated by their shame. When you do let people into your home, they’re taken aback by the clutter and comment on it.

‘Clutter Blindness’

“Clutter blindness” blocks people from realizing how their home looks to others. Hearing concerns from somebody you trust is a good warning sign.

Being Distressed About Your Belongings

Many of us enjoy collecting. But have your accumulated belongings become a burden rather than a pleasure? Do you have no way to display all the collectibles? If so, this has probably gone beyond understandable, healthy collecting and become hoarding.

Compulsive Buying or Acquiring

Do you bring home too much stuff? Perhaps it’s shopping in person or online, or perhaps it’s collecting free stuff. Realizing that you’re always coming home with more than you intended to pick up or with more than you need is a warning sign. Another sign is that your purchases sit unused or unopened.

Junk Trunk in Greenville, North Carolina is happy to help you get things in order. We will work with you, side by side, until the job is done.
